Our Installation Process

We set out to build the best installation teams in solar and that’s exactly what we have today. We aren’t perfect but we are getting better and better every single day taking care of homeowner after homeowner along the way.

FAQ

How Long Until You’re Installed?

Great Question. While every state and jurisdiction varies, from docs signed to installation we’re normally right around 45-60 days installed (average in New England is 180-225 days).

As far as we can tell we have the fastest installation timelines in New England.

For solar the installation normally takes about 1-2 days. If there is a battery or other service work like a Main Panel Upgrade, Tree Work, or a Re-roof involved add a day each. That work will either be done at install or scheduled around the installation.

Great Question!

Reroofs will normally be scheduled the week before the installation and tree work often will be done right after the installation while we wait for inspections.

When we are getting close to installation, normally right when permits and interconnection are approved someone from our operations team will reach out to coordinate a time for the tree or roof work to be done!

No Problem, just call our main line at 617-580-8649 and we’ll get you rescheduled.

Don’t be shy! Our customer service and success team is hands down

After Installation we have to get the building and electrical inspection scheduled and done.

Get the inspector to sign and send the COC (certificate of completion) to the utility and once approved from the Utility (24-48 hours after submission).

At that point it’s normally about 3-14 days for the utility to come out and exchange the meter except in CMP territory in Maine because you guys already have smart meters installed. Your system goes live right away!

The bulk of the work for a solar installation is actually in the process of preparing the project for installation. We believe this to be “Our Product” at the end of the day.

Yes you may be getting a new roof, mini-splits or heat-pumps, tree work and a solar system BUT at the end of the day the engineering of our pipeline to go from signing paperwork to installing solar is where the real work is done.

FOR YOU, it all goes on behind the scenes. It’s set and forget when you make the decision to go solar and sign the paperwork, but for us, that’s where we dig in and get to work.

Yes In fact you have the best warranty in New England (we checked)!

Here’s the skinny with your warranty: After installation you have a 25 year warranty!

Our Team Sunshine Triple 25 Year Warranty is a game changer! Let me explain…

1- Most companies offer a 5 or 10 year workmanship warranty. We offer an astounding 25 year workmanship warranty

2- Most companies don’t use all tier 1 equipment. Everything WE offer is tier 1 and has a minimum 25 year equipment warranty from the manufacturer (some of our panels have a 30+ year performance warranty)!

3- Most companies do not offer a production guarantee. We offer an industry breaking 25 year production guarantee.

Your system literally HAS to do what it’s supposed to or we are on the hook!

Why? Because once this thing is installed we believe you should never have to think about it again!

IF YOU EVER have any problems or think something is going on, you call us at…

The results you want and the protection you need are built-in.

Best thing to do here is to talk to your tax professional. We are not tax experts but it’s pretty easy. You take your solar agreement we emailed you and you hand it to your tax professional. If you’re filing yourself it’s the IRS Form 5695.

Very simple.

Here’s the official answer from Google:

To claim the credit, you must file an IRS Form 5695 with your federal tax return. On Form 5695, you’ll calculate the credit and then enter the result on your 1040 form. If the tax credit exceeds your tax liability, the excess amount may be carried forward to the next tax year, depending on current tax laws.

Keep all receipts and documents that detail the cost of the solar system and installation. This documentation will be necessary if the IRS requires proof of the expenditure.

It’s important to consult with a tax professional or accountant to ensure you’re fully compliant with current tax laws and to make the most of the solar investment tax credit. Tax laws and credits can change, so it’s crucial to have the most up-to-date information when filing your taxes.

YES! We do. We call it the ambassador program and every customer has the opportunity to earn after they become a customer of ours. You can earn $500 per referral that also becomes a client of ours.

In fact many customers of ours pay for their solar every year by simply directing the people that already ask them about their solar to us, and in return they cover their solar payments year to year!

It helps them, it helps us as we rely on our referrals and reputation, and ultimately it helps more of our community go solar together!
